UCR Health at Citrus Tower
The UCR Health Psychiatry Suite at Citrus Tower is located in downtown Riverside. In addition, the facility houses a second suite for UCR Health multispecialty services, which includes neurology, primary care, reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery, and more. The clinic anticipates about 33,000 patient visits each year.
Department of Psychiatry, Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health
Inpatient treatment facility is the Psychiatry Department of Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health (RUHS). Services consist of emergency psychiatric evaluation, treatment and inpatient care for ages 13 and up. Being geared to stabilize the individual for return to maximum productivity as soon as possible, this department provides:
- Individual and group therapy in a structured, supervised setting
- Discharge planning and coordination
- Placement services
The Emergency Treatment Services (ETS) division provides psychiatry emergency services including evaluation, crisis intervention and referrals for psychiatric hospitalization as needed. ETS specializes in evaluating and treating mental illness and emotional crisis. Patients who come to ETS may receive treatment and be discharged to return home with medication and referrals to other mental health facilities. Some patients may be admitted for further treatment to the inpatient treatment facility. ETS provides services to individuals of all ages.
Department of State Hospitals - Patton
Psychiatry residents rotate at the Department of State Hospitals – Patton. This hospital is a forensic psychiatric hospital located nearby in Patton, Calif. It provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment facility.
Trainees will conduct psychiatric assessments, medication management, and learn how to prepare assessments of patients for the court under the Trial Competency Program.
Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center
The Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center is part of the VA Long Beach Healtcare System, one of the most diversified health care systems in the VA. Named for Corporal Tibor Rubin, a Korean War veteran who received the Congressional Medal of Honor, the facility is one of six in the Long Beach system.
Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health
The Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health (RUHS) is the only county-owned and operated hospital, whose mission is to provide superior quality healthcare to county residents with a special focus on individuals and populations in need. In FY 2010-11, RUHS had approximately 23,500 admissions and nearly 100,000 emergency room visits, as well as approximately 129,000 outpatient clinic visits through its extensive ambulatory care program.The 520,000-square-foot medical center is a tertiary care and level II adult and pediatric trauma center facility, licensed for a total of 439 beds. In addition to the 362 licensed beds in Moreno Valley, California, there are 77 licensed beds in a separate psychiatric inpatient treatment facility in the city of Riverside. RUHS has 12 operating rooms, a helipad, and state-of-the-art digital radiology services, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerized tomography (CT) facilities.
RUHS-BH Children’s Programs
Riverside University Health System-Behavioral Health (RUHS-BH) Children’s Programs provides a broad range of innovative child-centered, strength-based, family-focused, culturally-competent and evidence-based services to children and adolescents.
Fellows will spend the majority of the second year of the fellowship working within this treatment site to allow for adequate continuity of care for both educational and clinical purposes. RUHS-BH Children’s Services serves over 10,000 children across 10 County clinics with externally funded programs for parent-child interaction training (PCIT), trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, multidimensional family therapy (MDFT), eating disorders treatment and wrap around intensive case management services.
San Jacinto Unified School District
Fellows will provide consultation to staff within the San Jacinto Unified School District (SJUSD) beginning in their first
year, including supervised consultation with teachers and staff, observation of classes in progress, and individual interviews and comprehensive psychiatric assessment with students as necessary.
The district is committed to providing academic programs to address the needs and talents of all students, including gifted and talented, special education, English learners and foster youth. A variety of specialized programs are available, including on-line education, dual language immersion, international baccalaureate, freshman academy, career technical education, AVID, STEAM, instrumental/vocal music, athletics, and the performing arts.
University of California, Riverside Early Childhood Services
The mission of Early Childhood Services (ECS) is to enable parents to reach their educational and professional goals and to support children to reach their full potential in all developmental areas. ECS supports the university’s teaching, research and community service goals by providing the children of students, staff, faculty and community members with a healthy, safe and inclusive learning environment. Children are nurtured, encouraged and supported by ECS staff to enable them to reach the next level in their social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Three classrooms are designed for infants and toddlers, three for preschoolers and one for kindergarten. Fellows will rotate in each of the classrooms, observing and interacting with very young children, providing consultation to parents, performing psychiatric assessments and participating in multidisciplinary treatment teams.
Alan M. Crogan Youth Treatment & Education Center
The Alan M. Crogan Youth Treatment and Education Center (YTEC) is a 106-bed juvenile treatment facility that is comprised of two buildings covering approximately 61,000 square feet. The facilty includeas an assessment unit, a transitional living unit, and four podular units - an Intensive Re-Integration Services (IRIS) unit, Collaboratively Helping Adolescents Negotiate Greater Empathy (CHANGE) unit, girls' unit and boys' unit. YTEC provides in-custody treatement programs and re-entry plans for youth who the court has ordered into the program. Youth typically stay in YTEC betwen 180 and 365 days.
